With no diamonds and no Y-seams, it comes together with straightforward piecing using squares, rectangles, and half-square triangles (HSTs), making it a great confidence-builder. Whether you’re new to quilting or just want a fun, satisfying project, this pattern is perfect for sharpening your quarter-inch seams and piecing skills.
Our first class (July 10) will focus on walking through the pattern and helping you determine how much of each fabric you’ll need based on your color choices. After that class, you’ll purchase, cut, and label your fabric before we meet again on August 7 to begin assembling your quilt.
Finished sizes range from a 58 inches x 58 inches lap quilt all the way up to a 118 inches x 118 inches king.

For the July 10 class, you will only need your pattern and something to write with. If you have some colored pencils, bring them! We will NOT be sewing or cutting on this day.
For the August 7 class, you will need:
Sewing machine in good working order
Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
Basic sewing supplies: scissors, thread for piecing, pins, snips, seam ripper, bobbins, rulers, a new needle, starch, etc.
Frixion or another erasable marking pen (if you’re using dark fabrics, be sure it will show up)
Please label all tools and notions with your name (rotary cutters, rulers, etc.)
BEFORE CLASS: Before the July 10 class, please purchase the pattern and begin thinking through your color choices. Depending on the size you plan to make, you’ll use 2–6 fabrics. Keep in mind that different sizes of this quilt have slightly different looks, so take a few minutes to look through the examples in the pattern.
After the July 10 class, you’ll purchase your fabric and have everything cut and labeled prior to the August 7 class.
