Punch Needle

Punch Needle is a way to create textured stitches on fabric. Join us for an afternoon workshop to learn everything you need to know to create a punch needle rug. In the first three-hour class you will learn all of the basic techniques: threading your needle, stretching your cloth on a gripper hoop (or frame), how to make perfectly spaced stitches and how to use embroidery thread to create shading and dimension in your project and techniques to trace patterns onto weavers cloth. Class teacher will meet separately with class participants to help with pattern and thread selection. In the second class, we will review finishing techniques to display your completed project. You will have time during this afternoon workshop to prepare your project for displaying. We will also review other techniques to display punch needle projects including how to prepare a project for framing or for mounting purposes (such as mounting on a board or a book).
