Fish Tales Needle Punch

The class will meet two times on January 11th and February 8th. Join us for an afternoon workshop (January 11th) to learn everything you need to know to create a punch needle rug. In this three-hour class you will learn all of the basic techniques: threading your needle, stretching your cloth on a gripper hoop (or frame), how to make perfectly spaced stitches and how to use embroidery thread to create shading and dimension in your project and techniques to trace patterns onto weavers cloth.

We will be working on the Fish Tails patterns by Sew Cherished. Kits are available at the store. If you would like to punch something else we offer several patterns at the store and would love to help you pick something out.

On February 8th we will review finishing techniques to display your completed project. You will have time during this afternoon workshop to prepare your project for displaying. If you are punching the Fish Tails pattern we will prepare your pattern for hanging including sewing on the wooden fins and tails and finishing with a wool backing. We will also review other techniques to display punch needle projects including how to prepare a project for framing or for mounting purposes (such as mounting on a board or a book).
