Sock Knitting Workshop



Simple yarn overs and increases create an intricate and lovely sock fabric. Perfect class for beginners interested in learning how to knit socks. The skills that you will need to make these socks are the basic knit and pearl stitches. We

will review the following stitch techniques in the class: yarn overs, decreases like knit two together and slip, slip, knit, making bobbles and the Kitchener technique. The class will meet four times and your choice of patterns included in the In Bloom Sock Set by Summer Lee. You will learn how to: Use the magic loop knitting technique; Cast on, cuff and the textured pattern of the leg; Yarn overs, decreases like knit two together and slip, slip, knit and making bobbles; Heel flap, heel turn and gusset; Toe and finishing using the Kitchener technique; And at the last class we will start the second sock and review the sock process one more time. Required Supplies

Yarn (Main Color – approximately 350 yards fingering weight sock yarn; Contrast Color (for toes) – approximately 5 yards fingering weight sock yarn; Store samples are prepared in West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply sock yarn and Manos Del Uruguay Alegria sock yarn; US 1 (2.25mm) at least 32-inch (if you are using the magic loop technique) circular needle or needle size for gauge; Small stitch markers; Small tapestry needle; Your choice of patterns included in the In Bloom Sock Set pattern by Summer Lee – which can be purchased on Ravelry.com.
