Machine Quilting with Your Walking Foot



Come learn the basics of quilting your table runners, wall hangings, baby quilts and more on your domestic sewing machine.  We’ll explore several options for quilting your project while simply using straight lines and your walking foot. Requirements: Required Supplies: · Book: How Do I Quilt It? by Christa Watson · Walking foot and guide bar if it came with your foot · Aurifil 50 wt thread in a medium color that contrasts with your fat quarters (no red or black) · Bobbin wound with the same thread as above · Janome Red Tip Needle (size 14) or Schmitz 90/14 · Frixion pen · Thread snips or small scissors Prepare 3 practice quilt sandwiches for our exercises in class. You will need 6 fat quarters and 3 pieces of batting 18 inches x 21 inches. Using a ball point pen, draw the following shapes on the fat quarters leaving at least one inch between the shapes. Fat quarter # 1 – Six four-inch squares Fat quarter #2 – Two six-inch squares and 2 rectangles 6” x 9” Fat quarter #3 – Two eight-inch squares After marking the top, layer the quilt sandwich with the marked fat quarter, batting and another fat quarter for the backing. Baste using your favorite method (spray, pins, or hand).
